Job Title: Automation Technician

Job Description

As an Automation Technician, you will be responsible for performing scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical and automation systems. Your role will involve diagnosing and repairing electrical issues on production equipment, including motors, drives, sensors, and PLCs. You will troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and other automated controls, as well as assist in programming and updating control systems as needed. Maintaining and repairing high-speed printing presses and associated machinery will also be part of your duties.

Responsibilities

Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on electrical and automation systems.Diagnose and repair electrical issues on production equipment, including motors, drives, sensors, and PLCs.Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs, HMIs, servo systems, and other automated controls.Assist in programming and updating control systems as needed.Maintain and repair high-speed printing presses and associated machinery.Ensure proper functioning of electrical panels, wiring, and safety devices.Handle daily passdowns and work orders with CMMS.Prioritize maintaining production machinery over preventive maintenance, work orders, and projects.Perform daily/midshift checks and preventive maintenance on weighing systems, compressors, compactors, chillers, and HVAC.Troubleshoot and repair electrical components such as prox switches, limit switches, relay switches, and circuits.

Essential Skills

5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or production environments strongly preferred.3+ years of experience in electrical maintenance within a manufacturing or printing environment.Hands-on experience with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens), VFDs, and industrial automation systems.Knowledge of robotics or advanced automation systems.Electrical experience with 3-phase systems, basic PLC troubleshooting knowledge, and ability to work with VFDs.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment or equivalent experience preferred.High-speed packaging experience would be ideal.Any industry experience in manufacturing would be considered.Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical repairs.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday to Friday from 7am to 5:30pm, with a shift to Monday to Thursday during the slow season. The facility is clean, temperature-controlled, and well-spaced, ensuring a comfortable working environment. Some machinery can be loud, requiring the use of hearing protection and protective eyewear. The dress code includes jeans or work pants and a t-shirt or polo, with steel toes required on the production floor. Breaks include two 15-minute paid breaks and a 1-hour unpaid lunch, with flexible timing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Collierville, TN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
