Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer to join our team in Merrillville, IN. This role is responsible for planning and evaluating the integration of new or upgraded equipment, managing improvement projects, and supporting manufacturing initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead productivity improvement initiatives and implement best practices.
• Manage and oversee projects, including documentation and scheduling.
• Plan and evaluate the integration of new or upgraded equipment.
• Support Lean Manufacturing, process improvements, and problem-solving efforts.
• Provide bids and cost estimates for electrical projects; track progress using Gantt charts.
• Develop schematics, documentation, and troubleshooting guidelines for skilled trades.
• Participate in and lead continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain and ensure compliance of plant electrical infrastructure and safety codes.
• Provide technical troubleshooting support to E-Techs and Electricians.
• Drive standardization of equipment and processes.
• Recommend improvements based on manufacturing needs and capabilities.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–7 years of relevant experience in automation or electrical engineering.
• Proficiency in PLC programming (multiple languages), AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office.
• Experience in Lean Manufacturing and Capital Project Management.
• Strong project management and cross-functional team leadership skills.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and relationship management abilities.
• Tube mill experience is a plus.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Crown Point, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $63.00/hr.
