AutoCAD Drafter
This Drafter creates detailed, technical drawings, maps, and construction plans for fiber optic and copper telecommunications networks using AutoCAD or GIS software. They translate field survey data into designs for underground conduits, aerial poles, and splice locations, ensuring compliance with industry standards for construction teams. Key Responsibilities + Design Creation: Develop detailed, accurate engineering prints (work prints) for aerial and underground fiber routes. + Software Usage: Proficiently use CAD, AutoCAD, or GIS software to draft network layouts and update existing records. + Field Data Interpretation: Analyze field notes, sketches, and site survey data to create accurate designs. + Construction Documentation: Prepare, review, and maintain construction documents, plan/profile drawings, and splice schematics. + Collaboration: Coordinate with engineers, project managers, and permitting agencies to ensure accuracy and compliance. Required Skills and Qualifications + Technical Proficiency: Strong knowledge of AutoCAD, GIS, or similar drafting software. + Telecom Knowledge: Understanding of OSP infrastructure, including fiber optic cabling, pole loading, conduit, and handholes. + Attention to Detail: Ability to produce high-quality construction drawings and maintain accurate records. + Experience: Previous experience in drafting, specifically with utility, telecommunications, or civil engineering projects is highly valued. + Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Common Qualifications + Associate degree in Drafting, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. + Knowledge of municipal permitting and Right-of-Way (ROW) regulations Job Type & Location This is a Permanent position based out of Milwaukee, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $37.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
