The Auto Body Technician is responsible for performing advanced collision and structural repairs, including aluminum repairs, to restore vehicles to pre-accident condition. This role requires strong diagnostic ability, structural repair expertise, and aluminum repair certification to ensure all work meets manufacturer and industry standards.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Review repair orders and perform advanced body and structural collision repairs efficiently and accuratelyPerform aluminum panel and structural repairs in accordance with OEM and I-CAR standardsComplete frame and structural repairs using proper measuring and welding equipmentRepair or replace damaged aluminum and steel panels, fenders, bumpers, and structural componentsPerform aluminum welding and bonding procedures per manufacturer specificationsEnsure proper isolation procedures when working with aluminum to prevent cross-contaminationCollaborate with estimators and Body Shop leadership to identify structural and supplemental repairsDocument all work performed in the repair order system accurately and in real timeConduct final inspections to ensure repairs meet manufacturer certification standards and customer expectationsMaintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean, safe, and proper working conditionFollow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding hazardous waste disposal and safety proceduresQualifications2+ years of collision repair experience requiredAluminum repair certification required (I-CAR or OEM equivalent)Experience performing structural/frame repairsProficiency in aluminum welding and bonding techniquesStrong understanding of manufacturer repair procedures and compliance standardsAbility to work independently on complex repairsHigh attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanshipValid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to pass pre-employment screenings (background, drug test, and MVR)Must be authorized to work in the USAPreferred Qualifications:
