4 Year Degree Job Summary The position of Athletic Trainer will work under the direction of the Assistant AD-Sports Medicine and Performance, and the Head Athletic Trainer to provide recognition, prevention, and rehabilitation of injuries. The position of Athletic Trainer is a 12-month salaried position and will include team athletic training coverage for 2-3 sports teams. Specific team assignments are negotiable based on successful candidate’s request and what is available internally. Also, in conjunction with the rest of the athletic training staff, coverage of the college’s club sport events, sport camps, and events for Hillsdale Academy, an on-campus K-12 school.Essential Job Functions Provide comprehensive medical services to Hillsdale College athletic programs Responsible for practice coverage, game coverage, and athletic training room services Will be primary support for Hillsdale College’s athletic teams as determined by the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Medicine and Performance Specific major responsibilities include but are not limited to: Assist student-athletes with referrals for appropriate medical care. Assist the Assistant AD of Sports Medicine and Performance in confirming that all student-athletes have acceptable medical insurance as outlined by the school’s medical insurance policies. Assist with the development and implementation of emergency action plans. Assist with the organization and administration of physical examinations. Maintain up to date medical records for all student-athletes Maintain an organized system of tracking supply inventory to assist the Head Athletic Trainer with purchasing of supplies as needed. Willingness to travel and perform evening and weekend work are also required, sometimes on short notice. Other duties as assigned by Assistant AD-Sports Medicine and Performance and/or Director of Athletics
NATA BOC Certification, and must be licensed or eligible for licensing in the state of Michigan Current CPR and AED certification required within 1 month of appointment Preferred Qualifications: Master’s level degree in athletic training or related field. Two years of experience in athletic training related field Strong organizational and communication skill. Knowledge and/or willingness to learn inventory and insurance processing. Additional certifications, or interest in attaining additional certifications in athletic performance or therapeutic modalities is preferred.
