The Sanctions & Export Control Oversight team within Regulatory Affairs - Legal & Compliance is looking for an Associate Sanctions/ Export Control Specialist, whose mission will be to ensure that Swift adheres to all applicable Sanctions & Export Control (S&EC) laws and regulations. 

In this role you will report to Swift’s Head of Sanctions & Export Control, and you will interact closely with colleagues from the wider Legal team, Information Technology, Customers Experience , Operations and other stakeholders.

Education

•    Bachelor's degree or other relevant advanced degree or experience 

Experience

•    At least 1 to 3 years of relevant experience in the S&EC field – ideally within an international financial, technical, service and/or consultancy environment

Key Responsibilities

The Associate Sanctions & Export Control Specialist will (among other):

Review and actively follow up the S&EC designations and regulations (in the EU, Belgium, the UK and USA, as well as in other countries where Swift operates).

Monitor multiple back-office and online screening operations and processes; and assess/validate results and communicate to relevant stakeholders accordingly.

Maintain and continuously update an accurate S&EC documentation, including internal procedures, guidelines and SOPs.

Support production of recurring reports. 

Serve as point of contact for S&EC inquiries, mandatory requests, and audits, from internal and external sources.

Identify, investigate and evaluate known and potential S&EC risks, operational vulnerabilities and participate in related risk assessments, present conclusions and recommendations, propose, develop and implement corrective actions. 

Assist in maintaining an operational, effective and sustainable companywide S&EC program; ensure adherence with internal company policies, procedures, customer-facing policy and applicable laws and regulations. 

Actively follow-up on the implementation and evolution of internal controls. 

Participate in various S&EC related projects. 

Develop and maintain internal contacts to understand Swift’s business and technology, including the S&EC challenges and requirements.

Maintain knowledge of applicable international and local laws and other S&EC requirements.
