Touro University seeks a dynamic, energetic, innovative, organized and collaborative individual to head a large BIOLOGY department servicing multiple Touro undergraduate campuses. The department consists of highly motivated educators and scientists who are constantly striving to prepare students for a changing clinical environment. The successful candidate will be one who has knowledge of the biology curricula, good interpersonal skills and understanding and insight into the needs of students of the greater Jewish and general community. This position works closely with vice presidents, deans, deputy chairs, faculty and staff to promote student success. The candidate will teach a reduced load of courses in the department which is the norm at the university.

Responsibilities Provide leadership for curriculum development and revisionOversee the coordination of personnel, schedules and resources to meet the needs of the undergraduate colleges, and to work collaboratively with the various graduate programs of the UniversitySupervise and evaluate facultyWork with faculty to establish department goalsOversee the assessment of the department's programsOversee faculty selectionEnsure departmental representation at meetings and other eventsChair departmental meetings and appoint departmental committeesAdvise and respond to student appeals and requestsRecommend changes to maintain the relevance of the programPresent a positive image of the college to the communityAdvise pre-health students and biology majors Qualifications Education/ExperienceDoctor of Philosophy.Ph.D. or Terminal Degree in biology and /or related disciplineMinimum 5 years of teaching experience in higher educationRecord of academic research and professional expertiseAdministrative experience requiredKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesFamiliarity with Lander Colleges and NYSCAS student bodyAbility to communicate with administration, faculty and studentsExcellent teaching skillsOrganizational skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, & Canvas Maximum Salary USD $125,000.00/Yr.
