Associate Operations Specialist @DARWIN

We are seeking a talented individual to join the Market Strategy & Automation (MS&A) Team within Darwin, part of Mercer, a Marsh business. We are a dynamic group of dedicated and talented individuals focused on designing, building, preparing global benefits technology and administration solutions.

This role will be based in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

The Operations Specialist supports the delivery of scalable global benefits technology and administration capabilities by capturing and translating carrier/provider requirements into Darwin documentation and technical specifications, improving business processes, supporting UI testing and product demonstrations, and acting as a subject matter expert for assigned markets across multiple countries. The role sits within a fast-growing EMEA Technology Hub (Cluj, Romania) and supports collaboration across internal and external partners.

We will count on you to:

Capture and translate business strategies and provider/carrier requirements into clear Darwin documentation and technical specifications (including standard report formats).Use the MS&A design methodology and naming conventions to support streamlined implementation and service of Darwin.Analyze and improve current and upcoming business processes; propose and implement configuration standards to increase team efficiency.Support UI testing, product demonstrations, and delivery activities; respond to ad hoc exercises and issues while meeting SLAs and maintaining quality.Maintain up-to-date status for tasks and activities using available tools (JIRA, Confluence).Manage and cultivate relationships with Global Benefit Carriers/Providers, ensuring compliance with processes, legislative changes, security, and legal requirements; initiate and manage carrier relationships and troubleshooting.Represent carrier products (for example, insurance products) and Darwin platform integrations to internal stakeholders, including delivering product demonstrations, explaining integration requirements, and supporting troubleshooting as needed.Contribute to the development of best practices for third-party providers and products on Darwin.Attend mandatory training, proactively pursue learning & development opportunities, and assist in onboarding and training new team members.Apply and develop subject-matter expertise for assigned markets worldwide and follow established documentation standards.

What you need to have: 

Attention to detail - accuracy in documenting requirements.Communication - Comfortable with communication and collaboration tools (Outlook, Microsoft Teams, Jira).Documentation and diagramming proficiency - experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint; familiarity with diagramming tools (e.g., Microsoft Visio) is a plus.Excellent written and verbal English skills for clear, concise stakeholder communication.Ability to capture complex technical requirements, translate them for diverse audiences, and maintain comprehensive documentation to support collaboration.Self-starter with initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a logical, continuous-improvement mindset.Strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain effective relationships with users and partners.

What makes you stand out?

Practical experience with Atlassian JIRA and Confluence to manage tasks and documentation effectively.Experience in the benefits, payroll, or HCM sectors, or previous exposure to Darwin or similar benefits platforms.Basic understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).Basic understanding of what an Application Programming Interfaces (API) is and how it enables software components to communicate; project management experience with APIs is a plus.
