Associate Merchant- Stationery
GENERAL PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: 

The principal purpose of this position is to support the Category Merchant by providing assistance with all merchandising business processes, including assortment development, execution of the merchandising strategy, and implementing merchandising plans for Dollar Tree Inc. 

ESSENTIAL ACTIVIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Responsible for providing analysis and research to assist in the development of the Category StrategyConsulted on the assortment definition and product selection their respective CategoryResponsible for providing analysis and research to assist in the definition of the assortmentConsulted on product development activities for their respective CategoryResponsible for evaluating vendor performance and recommending sources of supply to the Category Merchant.Responsible for preparing analysis and reporting to support vendor meetingsConsulted on the identification of new sources of supply, preparation for overseas buying trips, vendor selection, and cost negotiationsConsulted on all financial and assortment planning activities for their respective CategoryResponsible for development and approval of all plan-o-guides, display guides, flow guides, and planners for their respective CategoryResponsible for developing copy and text in support of Marketing for Category productConsulted on the management of vendor relationships within their respective CategoryProvide input to the selection of products from their respective Category to be included in a promotional program.  Consulted on activities to ensure the products are appropriately represented in a promotionProvide input to the Weekly Business Reviews and Monthly P&L of their respective Category. Consulted on potential Merchandising business and systems improvement initiativesMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university or equivalent experience / training preferred
Experience: 3 or more years of related experience as a Buyer or 5 or more years of combined buying, planning and allocations responsibilities
Technical Skills: Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Windows-based programs as well as retail math; Strong merchandising, product, trend and analytical skills
Other Skills: Demonstrated leadership and decision making
