Derivatives Senior Analyst Role Overview

The Transaction Services team is a multi-skilled function covering derivatives, trade operations, cash operations, and asset servicing. This role is primarily focused on derivatives operations and requires strong technical expertise, sound risk awareness, and the ability to lead within a fast-paced operational environment.

The successful candidate will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in derivatives, provide oversight and mentorship to junior team members, and contribute to continuous process and control improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Derivatives Operations & Oversight

Oversee and process derivatives lifecycle events, including trade capture, confirmations, settlements, resets, terminations, and reconciliations.

Manage collateral processes including margin calls, dispute management, and collateral movements.

Ensure all transactions and lifecycle events are processed accurately and within defined deadlines.

Monitor and resolve cash and position breaks, escalating issues in line with agreed risk and escalation frameworks.

Ensure timely and comprehensive same-day disclosure of identified issues and operational risks.

Risk & Control

Apply strong operational risk awareness across the derivatives lifecycle.

Ensure adherence to established controls, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Identify control gaps and proactively recommend improvements to mitigate risk.

Support audit queries and regulatory reporting requirements where applicable.

Stakeholder & Client Management

Act as a key point of contact for Portfolio Implementers, Dealers, counterparties, custodians, and internal teams.

Proactively manage complex queries and resolve escalations with a focus on quality and timeliness.

Build and maintain strong working relationships across operational and investment teams.

Leadership & Continuous Improvement

Mentor and support Junior Analysts, providing technical guidance and oversight.

Review and validate work performed by junior team members where appropriate.

Contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives to reduce risk and improve service quality.

Take ownership of project work and process enhancements within agreed timelines.

Prioritize workload effectively in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

Skills & Qualifications Must-Have Skills & Experience

Strong experience in Derivatives Operations, including lifecycle management.

Proven experience in Collateral Management (margin calls, dispute resolution, reconciliations).

Experience with Aladdin.

Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Solid understanding of operational risk and controls within the derivatives lifecycle.

Experience managing escalations and complex break resolution.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Ability to mentor and support junior team members.

Good-to-Have Skills & Experience

Broader experience across Trade Operations (Equities, Fixed Income, FX, Money Markets, Repo, ABS/MBS).

Experience in Cash Operations, including payments processing.

Knowledge of SWIFT messaging standards.

Understanding of Corporate Actions processes (Mandatory & Voluntary events).

Exposure to regulatory requirements impacting derivatives operations (e.g., EMIR, Dodd-Frank, SFTR).

Experience contributing to system enhancements, automation, or transformation initiatives.
