Sanford Ambulance in Luverne is sponsoring select applicants to pay for their EMT school while hiring them into an Associate EMT position.

Summary

Associate Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Candidates attend the Emergency Medical Technicians course, while at the same time, successfully complete new employee orientation requirements. Upon successful completion of the EMT course, candidates take and pass the applicable exams needed to obtain national certification and state licensure. EMT state licensure must be obtained within 6 months of employment. Once licensure is obtained, employees may be eligible for internal department promotion to EMT. If employee does not obtain license within 6 months of employment, there will be an evaluation by the department Director to determine if employment may continue.

Job Description

In an Ambulance setting, attends the 8-week EMT course as administered by Sanford Health Emergency Medical Services Education (SHEMSE). Adheres to all of the standards, requirements and expectations set forth by SHEMSE. Under the supervision of a preceptor, utilizes necessary medical equipment to treat the patient and ascertain the extent of their injuries or illness. Communicates with treatment center personnel to provide information about the situation and report patient information to medical staff in a timely and accurate manner, or to receive instructions for further treatment. Completes Sanford's specific orientation and other issued tasks concurrently with the 8-week EMT course and up until the obtaining of state licensure.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.



Current valid driver’s license, and must meet all medical guidelines for Sanford Health Category II drivers.
