Associate Director
POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

           

Reports to the Director Surgical Services. This position acts as a first line assistant to the Director Surgical Services and is responsible for assisting with the planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and integrating services within the Surgery Department.  Has direct responsibility for: patient care as assigned.  Works, collaboratively with the managers of surgery to facilitate effective communication and problem solving.  Fosters an environment of professional growth and development.  

 

Under general direction of the Director Surgical Services, directs the staff and programs of surgery to ensure quality care to patients. Assists in the development and introduces approved standards and guidelines for all areas of surgery. Ensures that all patients and guests receive optimal, safe care and professional services that are provided in compliance with State/Federal regulations and TJC and in accordance with accepted practices of the nursing profession, and are in concert with the mission and objectives of the Hospital. Coordinates and evaluates the quality of nursing/patient care, financial stability and service productivity.  Collaborates with team members to assure the professional development and morale of the service teams and has a close working relationship with the general management team and the medical staff to effectively meet system goals, organizational goals and all pillars relating to the departments he/she works.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

 

1.   Master’s degree in Nursing, Hospital Administration, Business Administration, or closely related field preferred. 5-10 years of Surgery experience required and Management required.

2.   Five to seven years of progressively more responsible professional experience in order to:

Acquire advanced knowledge of surgical patient care delivery systems. Develop knowledge of various licensing/accrediting standards and regulations. Develop an understanding of Hospital and system-wide organizational structures. Acquires suitable interpersonal, analytical, and managerial skills and knowledge.
