This position is responsible for overseeing the full lifecycle of subawards, ensuring compliance with sponsor regulations, institutional policies, and federal requirements, while supporting Boston College’s research mission. The Associate Director exercises a high degree of independent judgment and is authorized to make commitments on behalf of the University. The role works with minimal oversight from the Director of OSP and may mentor and supervise junior staff within the Research Subcontracting unit. Key Responsibilities •Lead all aspects of outgoing subaward administration, including creation, negotiation, execution, amendment, and closeout •Conduct subrecipient risk assessments and determine appropriate monitoring and mitigation strategies •Review and approve outgoing subaward invoices in collaboration with department research administrators and Principal Investigators to ensure compliance and adequate documentation prior to payment •Prepare, review, and submit required Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act (FFATA) reports •Interpret and apply sponsor guidelines, federal regulations, and institutional policies related to subawards •Update and certify institutional representations, certifications, and assurances as authorized •Oversee daily workflow within the Research Subcontracting function, including tracking, reporting, and workload management •May directly supervise a Research Subcontracting Administrator and assign work within the unit •Contribute to the development and maintenance of OSP policies and procedures •Assist with the design and delivery of training for OSP staff and the broader Boston College research community •Participate in OSP leadership initiatives and team activities Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $99,700 to $124,600; salary commensurate with relevant experience. **Requirements** •Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in a central Office of Sponsored Programs or equivalent environment •Demonstrated expertise in federal regulations governing sponsored research in higher education •Significant experience negotiating and managing outgoing subawards •Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills •Excellent written and verbal communication skills •Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in a complex regulatory environment **Closing Statement** Boston College offers a broad and competitive range of benefits depending on your job classification eligibility: + Tuition remission for Employees + Tuition remission for Spouses and Children who meet eligibility requirements + Generous Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance + Low-Cost Life Insurance + Eligibility for both University-Funded 401k and Employer-Sponsored 403b Retirement Plans + Paid Holidays Annually + Generous Sick and Vacation Pay + Additional benefits can be found on https://www.bc.edu/employeehandbook Boston College conducts pre-employment background checks as part of the hiring process.
