University of Utah Health is seeking an Associate Director for AI Integration and Value.
The Associate Director, AI Integration & Value is a newly developed role that provides strategic and operational leadership for the integration, governance, and value realization of artificial intelligence (AI) across University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics.
Reporting to the Senior Director of AI Strategy and Enablement, this role is responsible for translating AI strategy into practice, ensuring responsible and risk-managed adoption, and delivering measurable outcomes.
The Associate Director leads a multidisciplinary team and collaborates across clinical, operational, and technical domains to drive high-impact, repeatable results in alignment with institutional priorities.
This position does not provide direct patient care.
Qualified candidates must have completed:

ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & Portfolio Management
Guides the operational execution of the enterprise AI portfolio, including intake, prioritization, and value tracking.Leads benefits realization and outcome verification aligned with clinical, financial, and operational goals.Oversees cross-functional governance workflows, including AI system inventory, risk assessments, and monitoring plansIntegration & Collaboration
Collaborates with Platform, Engineering, Development, Enterprise Architecture, and other teams to ensure scalable, supportable AI integrations.Partners with Compliance, Information Security, Digital Technology, and Clinical Informatics to operationalize responsible AI principles.Works with change management, literacy and training teams to ensure workforce readiness and appropriate use of AI tools.Talent and Performance Management
Builds, leads, and develops high-performing teams, supporting product management, integration, and analytics.Provides feedback, conducts performance appraisals, and fosters professional growth for staff.Proactively addresses conflicts and promotes team cohesion and resolution.EPE/Service
Responsible for user satisfaction and effectiveness metrics of integrated AI systems.Responsible for upholding PROMISE standards of direct reports and team members.Financial Oversight and Resource Management
Responsible for developing, monitoring and achieving budget goals.Manages labor and non-labor expenses to budget or flex budget.Oversees vendor relationships for AI-related systems and tools.Quality, Compliance & Continuous Improvement
Manages and promotes continuous process improvements in AI implementation.Achieves quality and value goals for assigned AI portfolio areas.Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Fosters positive relationships with staff, peers, and senior leadership.Engages teams in organizational news, decisions, and recognition.Upholds user satisfaction and effectiveness metrics for integrated AI systems.Knowledge / Skills / AbilitiesDemonstrated leadership, collaboration, and communication skills.Deep knowledge of healthcare operations, AI governance, and regulatory compliance.Strategic planning, forecasting, and portfolio management abilities.Familiarity with AI technologies, metrics, Epic integration, and digital health tools.Understanding of AI risk controls, ethical AI principles, and privacy/security standards.Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams and high-visibility initiatives.Practical expertise in value tracking, benefit realization, and change adoption. Qualifications QualificationsRequiredBachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Informatics, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.Six years of progressively responsible management experience in healthcare, digital transformation, analytics, or AI-related fields.
