How you will make history here...

As an Associate Customer Sales Lead for SpartanNash and the Michigan Independent Group, you will drive the development and execution of joint business plans while proactively managing, monitoring, and updating overall objectives across volume, profit, and share. You will bring our brand strategies to life with customers, leveraging category management and strong cross‑functional partnerships to influence decision‑making and create meaningful business impact. This role will be responsible for all the DSD business as well as the direct brand (Snack Factory).

This role is fully remote with customers geography being the preferred location of the candidate (MI, WI, IL).

What you will do…

Lead development and implementation of customer business plans.Manage relationships with SpartanNash and multiple independent retailer groups within the Michigan Market.Manage supplier relationship across assigned categories.Utilize the e4 sales planning tool and customer investment system to build optimal customer plans.Develop and implement trade promotion strategies and tactical customer plans.Partner closely with the DSD Field Sales Organization, Independent Distributors and 3rd Party Distributors to win at retail.Conduct post‑event analyses to evaluate promotional performance and optimize future opportunities.Monitor and manage deduction balances and conduct post audits.Leverage shelf solutions to increase retail availability and incremental product placement.Deliver category business reviews using loyalty and syndicated data to identify trends, drivers, and opportunities.Collaborate with customer key decision makers—including buyers, category managers, and merchandising/reset leaders—to bring brand strategies to market.Apply category management best practices to connect consumer and shopper insights with customer opportunities.Build accurate monthly forecasts and track DSD shipments and service to identify risks.Sell in new items and optimize distribution with customer partners.Identify profitable incremental volume opportunities.Assess customer competitive positions to align investment strategies with growth objectives.Build strong, productive customer relationships across multiple touchpoints.Manage trade funding in accordance with company standards.Oversee categories including Salty, Bakery, Deli, and Cookie/Cracker, collaborating cross‑functionally with the customer team and headquarters.Apply strong trade and P&L management capabilities.

Who you will work with…

Independent retailer groups and 3rd‑party distributors.DSD Field Sales Organization and Independent Distributors to drive marketplace execution.Customer key decision makers including buyers and merchandising/reset leaders.Internal cross‑functional partners such as Category Management, Zones, Customer Strategy, Finance, and other WHQ teams.

What you bring to the table… (Must have)

Bachelor’s degree.4+ years of CPG industry experience.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills.Ability to pull and apply syndicated data (IRI/Circana).Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and influencing skills.Ability to engage effectively at elevated customer levels.Prior experience managing a DSD business.Residence within the Michigan area.

Compensation and Benefits: The target base salary range for this full-time, salaried position is between
$86,200-$123,900
Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401k and wellness benefits beginning on the first day of employment.
