Purpose of Role:
The award-winning Charles River Investment Management System (CR IMS) enables sound and efficient investing across all asset classes to our prestigious clients. We continue to be a market leading solution for investment managers across the Institutional investment, Wealth Management and Hedge Fund industries.
Charles River’s Relationship Management team serve a dual purpose – advocating for our clients within Charles River and serving as a trusted advisor and direct point of contact for the client.
Charles River’s Product Management team define and drive the direction of future product enhancements within CR IMS, working closely with clients to align to their investment strategies, and market innovation and direction
We are looking for a dynamic, engaging and enthusiastic individual to help with our continued growth as a UK intern to assist the Relationship Management and Product Management teams.
The role will have a very marked account ownership connotation but will also allow for exposure to clients externally, and to Sales, Operations and Product Management internally
Main Responsibilities:
The Relationship Manager is responsible for managing key client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and primary point of contact. The role focuses on deepening client engagement, delivering high-quality service, identifying growth opportunities, and ensuring client needs are met in line with organisational objectives and regulatory standards.
In addition to relationship management, the role includes hands-on project management activity for client-led initiatives. Coordinating across CRD product, implementation, technology and State Street service teams to deliver strong client outcomes.
Key responsibilities:In partnership with the relationship managing director, manage a portfolio of existing clientsServe as point of contact for front‑office stakeholdersBuild strong, long-term relationships with client stakeholders based on trust and valueDevelop deep understanding of clients’ investment workflows, operating models, and strategic prioritiesEnsure consistent delivery of high-quality service and timely resolution of client issuesManage key CRD initiatives on behalf of the clientWork with cross functional teams across CRD and Alpha to ensure high-quality delivery outcomes across BAU and change initiatives. Communicate clearly and consistently with clients and internal stakeholders on project status, risks, and dependenciesAssist the internal Sales team to identify and foster revenue opportunities including additional application modules and services, training, or servicesMaintain awareness of market and industry trends and news relevant to CRD and client baseSustain a strong understanding of the Charles River IMS and keeping up-to-date with current offerings and upgradesSkills and Experience -
5+ years of experience in relationship management, client coverage, delivery, or product roles within financial services or fintechWorking knowledge of Charles River Development (CR IMS) or similar front‑office investment management platforms (OMS, EMS, compliance, IBOR)Ability to foster relationships across client organizations, with decision makers, including good personal and working relationships with end usersDemonstrated experience of client-facing projects, including implementations or change initiativesExperience working with asset managersCommercial awareness with experience supporting revenue growth and client negotiationsBachelor’s degree required; project management certification (PMP, Prince2, Agile) a plusProficiency on Microsoft Office (inc. Excel and Powerpoint) and other similar tools (e.g. PowerBI)Ability to travel to client sites 20% – 40% per calendar yearSelf-motivated with the ability to operate independently and as a member of a team.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to multi-task and successfully manage simultaneous prioritiesProven organizational skills with attention to detail.Required Competencies -
