Associate, Sound Technology - Production Technology – Japan

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with over 300 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

Netflix is the world’s leading streaming entertainment service, producing original content across features, series, documentaries, comedy specials, animation, and unscripted formats. As we continue to expand original productions in Japan, we are scaling our Production Technology team to support the unique creative, technical, and industry-specific needs of the region.

The Production Technology team works at the intersection of creativity and technology - setting technical requirements and best practices, consulting on workflows, supporting productions from capture through delivery, and helping evolve industry standards while preserving creative intent.

This role is for an experienced sound professional who is deeply familiar with the Japanese film and television sound ecosystem and is eager to help elevate sound workflows for Netflix productions in Japan.

The Production Technology Team

Our Technology Managers provide practical, production-grounded guidance based on Netflix specifications and best practices. We work directly with productions, sound crews, post facilities, and internal partners across production, post-production, and distribution. Beyond support, we actively explore opportunities for innovation in sound and imaging workflows - always anchored in real-world production realities.

About You

You are an emerging sound professional with a solid grounding in production and/or post-production sound workflows, and familiarity with how the Japanese sound industry operates. You may not yet be a regional authority, but you are trusted by peers, curious by nature, and motivated to grow into a deeper technical leadership role.

You are comfortable coordinating conversations between productions, sound vendors, and Netflix stakeholders, and you can translate technical requirements into practical guidance. You care deeply about sound quality, consistency, and long-term improvement of workflows, and you are eager to learn from senior technologists while contributing meaningfully on active productions.

Participate in industry outreach, workshops, and knowledge-sharing initiatives within the Japanese sound community

Contribute to internal documentation, workflow notes, and regional learnings to help improve consistency and scalability

Maintain awareness of current and emerging sound tools, formats, and consumer playback technologies

Support Sound Technology Managers in broader APAC initiatives when needed
