JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & People Management

Provides line management for managers and technical staff, including interviewing and selection, job description development, onboarding, professional development, goal setting, performance management, coaching, and mentoring. Reviews and approves time records, expense reports, and leave requests. Defines and manages individual and team goals aligned with corporate strategy and technology roadmaps. Develops team members to support career growth, succession planning, and evolving organizational needs. Mentors senior engineers and analytics partners to promote consistent engineering and data practices

Technology & Platform Delivery

 Leads and oversees the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise technology platforms, including data analytics and business intelligence solutions. Ensures the delivery of scalable, secure data platforms that integrate multiple enterprise and external data sources to support analytics and reporting. Guides teams in defining data models, KPI logic, and analytics solutions that deliver actionable insights for commercial and operational programs. Oversees cloud infrastructure initiatives, including cloud migrations, hybrid architectures, and optimization of cloud resource usage across platforms such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.

Data Integration, Quality & Governance

 Directs the design and execution of data integration pipelines across CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), ERP platforms, data lakes, and custom applications. Ensures data quality, validation, and governance processes are implemented to maintain accurate, reliable, and trusted analytics outputs. Supports the development and adoption of data standards, ingestion frameworks, monitoring practices, and issue resolution processes.

Security, Compliance & Operational Resiliency

 Ensures adherence to computing standards and procedures to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., 21 CFR Part 11), Company SOPs, Work Instructions (WIs), and industry best practices. Collaborates with IT governance and security teams to support controlled change management, risk assessments, and audit readiness. Oversees platform resiliency practices including backup and recovery, disaster recovery planning, performance monitoring, and uptime management for critical systems.

Project, Program & Stakeholder Management

 Coordinates resources, project schedules, and communications for technology initiatives across customers, internal teams, and external vendors. Manages multiple projects and programs concurrently, ensuring delivery on time, within scope, and within budget. Builds and maintains effective relationships with business leaders, product teams, and clients to ensure technology solutions align with business objectives. Communicates complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to non-technical stakeholders and clients.

Strategic Planning & Continuous Improvement

 Contributes to technical strategy, architectural roadmaps, and long-term platform evolution in partnership with senior leadership. Participates in governance forums, steering committees, and change review boards to assess platform changes and new initiatives. Drives continuous improvement in engineering practices, delivery methodologies (e.g., Agile), and operational excellence. Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Minimum of 10 years of technology experience, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role, in data-intensive, regulated, or enterprise environments.Strong technical expertise and technical writing skills, with proficiency in Systems Development Lifecycle (SDLC) principles and Agile delivery methodologies.Demonstrated experience with data architecture, data modeling, data integration, and data management across relational databases and modern cloud-based data platforms.Experience delivering analytics, business intelligence, and reporting solutions that drive actionable insights.Proficiency with cloud platforms and services (e.g., Microsoft Azure, AWS, Salesforce or Veeva).Knowledge of IT security, compliance, and operational resiliency practices.Strong leadership, client service, project management, and communication skills.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.Experience contributing to enterprise-scale data platform or analytics initiatives in partnership with senior technology leadership (preferred).Background in commercial pharmaceutical, biotech, healthcare, or life sciences environments (preferred).

Summary

The Associate Director of Engineering supports management and supervises staff responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of the Company’s technology platforms, data infrastructure, and analytics solutions. This role provides technical and people leadership across engineering, data, and analytics domains, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and compliant technology solutions that support commercial and operational business objectives. The Associate Director partners with business stakeholders and clients to define project scope, technical approach, architecture, and data expectations. The role coordinates internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality solutions on schedule and within budget, while ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, Company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and industry best practices. The position emphasizes operational excellence, platform resiliency, continuous improvement, and contributes to the evolution of enterprise data and analytics strategy in partnership with Director-level leadership.
