Beyond technical evaluations, this role is deeply human-centric; you will collaborate directly with individuals with disabilities to identify creative solutions and strategies that address barriers to independent living. You will manage a dynamic schedule that involves traveling across the state to meet participants where they are, ensuring their needs are met through high-quality recommendations and coordination with external vendors and loan programs.

Responsibilities:
Conduct in-person and virtual assessments for assistive technology, home accessibility, and vehicle modifications

Interview program participants to understand their unique needs and goals for independent living

Measure spaces, take photos, and evaluate environments to determine if solutions like ramps or specialized equipment are feasible

Create detailed, standardized reports outlining specific recommendations for equipment and modifications

Provide technical guidance to consultants and nurse leads regarding durable medical equipment and universal design

Coordinate with vendors and loan programs to help participants test equipment before final decisions are made

Manage a regional caseload by grouping site visits to maximize efficiency and community impact

Working hours: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Skills:
Advanced Certification: Current Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification is highly preferred

Specialized Expertise: Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS) certification is a significant plus for evaluating complex mobility needs

Clinical Background: Experience as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Physical Therapist (PT) is ideal for conducting physical environment assessments

Industry Experience: Prior experience working for an assistive technology vendor or durable medical equipment provider (outside of internship)

Home Modification Expertise: Specific experience in assessing and recommending structural modifications like ramps or bathroom accessibility

Grant & Medicaid Knowledge: Familiarity with federal grant reporting and Medicaid long-term care program guidelines

System Proficiency: Experience using AT4All or similar asset management and reporting databases

Bachelors

Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor???s degree in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, or a related field

Professional Certification: Current Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification is preferred, or the ability to obtain it within the first 12 months of employment

Assessment Skills: Proven ability to conduct hands-on assistive technology and home modification assessments

Technical Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Universal Design, and current assistive technology devices

Reporting Expertise: Experience writing comprehensive technical reports and maintaining detailed case notes

Communication: Ability to explain complex technical solutions to participants and professional partners in a clear, accessible way

Technical Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms like Zoom or Teams

Mobility: A valid driver???s license and the ability to travel statewide to meet with participants in their homes

Preferred Bonus: Seating and Mobility Specialist (SMS) certification is a plus
