Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Assistant Starbucks Leader is responsible for the functions below, in addition to other duties as assigned:

Running Shifts with Customers at Our Core: Understands today’s plan and ensures the team is working together to make every moment right for our customers. Uses their resources to determine positions, routines, and the plan for breaks. Puts oneself in the best position to read customer cues throughout the shift.Solving Problems in the Moment: Anticipates problems and uses their resources to respond calmly and confidently. Remains composed and utilizes resources to take appropriate action. Understands when and how to flex the play to optimize the customer experience. Identifies teachable moments and provides feedback and coaching as appropriate. Documents and shares pertinent information to uphold standards and ensure smooth transitions from shift to shift. Creating the Environment: Promotes an atmosphere of engagement and pride while achieving goals. Serves as a role model for baristas. Encourages teamwork through recognition and celebration of team wins. Sets an energetic tone within the store by building rapport with baristas on shift and displaying a positive attitude.May operate and be responsible for cash register operations. Follows policies and procedures to ensure proper money handling to avoid cash overages or shortages. Adheres to company and state laws related to tobacco and alcohol sales.Maintains backroom and receiving area security and organization. Responsible for general sanitation in the department.  Follows cleaning schedules and department guidelines to ensure that work areas, equipment, counters, display cases, etc. are well maintained, clean and meet all health and OSHA requirements. Disposes of trash properly.May assist with baling cardboard or other related duties (if properly trained – training provided) May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking-down, and storing deliveries through operation of a power jack or hand jack (if properly trained – training provided).Ensures smooth workflow within department by cooperating with co-workers and superiors.  Strives to continuously improve job performance. Responsible for utilization of all company provided Personal Protected Equipment (PPE). Including but not limited to cut resistant gloves, safety cutters, company sponsored footwear, etc.May also be called upon to assist in other departments. Supervisory Responsibilities

Assists the Starbucks Leader in supervising all associates in department. Specific number depends upon store sales volume.

Qualification Requirements

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required:

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.  Associate or bachelor’s degree in business related or Food Service-related field desirable. Minimum 2 years’ experience in management in a retail/restaurant/Starbucks preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variable in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered while performing the essential functions of this job. The associate is regularly exposed to indoor and outdoor conditions with a moderate noise level. The associate is subject to both environmental conditions, including temperature changes (extreme cold and/or extreme hot).

RATE OF PAY AND BENEFITS 

The hourly pay for this position starts at $16.00 and is up to $24.00.
