The Assistant Project Manager supports the Project Manager and project team in the successful execution of construction projects.
Responsibilities
+ Assist in pre-construction activities, including scheduling, document preparation, and coordination with stakeholders.
+ Help review project budgets and track labor, material, and subcontractor costs.
+ Assist in monitoring resource allocation (manpower, equipment, materials) within budgetary guidelines.
+ Prepare and organize subcontractor agreements under the direction of the Project Manager.
+ Communicate with vendors to ensure timely procurement of materials and services.
+ Assist in monitoring project financials, including cost reports, cash flow, and profitability tracking.
+ Maintain accurate records for RFIs, submittals, change orders, and other project documentation.
+ Collaborate with engineers, architects, and trade partners to help resolve design conflicts and ensure compliance with project specifications.
+ Support the development and maintenance of project schedules and coordinate delivery of materials and equipment.
+ Help enforce health and safety standards on-site and report any issues promptly.
+ Maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.
+ Assist in preparing reports and updates for stakeholders.
+ Assist in identifying potential change orders and help process supplier and subcontractor invoices for approval.
+ Research construction methods and suggest improvements to processes and timelines.
Essential Skills
+ Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
+ Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
+ Familiarity with construction software (Bluebeam, P6 Scheduler, AutoBid preferred).
+ Basic mechanical and construction knowledge.
+ Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
+ Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Construction Management or Engineering degree preferred.
+ Experience in project management, construction, RFI, change order, and mechanical fields.
Work Environment
The role operates in a dynamic and fast-paced construction environment. The individual will work closely with the Project Manager, engineers, architects, and trade partners. This position requires effective coordination with subcontractors and internal support teams. Proficiency in construction software and Microsoft Office is essential to manage tasks efficiently.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Apex, NC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $41.00/hr.
