Position Information **Proposed Faculty Rank** Assistant Professor (Lecturer) **Department** 00090 - History **City** Salt Lake City, UT **Track** Non Tenure Track **New Position to Begin** July 1, 2026 **Details** The Department of History at the University of Utah seeks to appoint a career-line Assistant Professor (Lecturer) in US History, with a preference for specialization in legal, economic, or political history. Applicants must demonstrate a clear commitment to History teaching and include evidence of pedagogical expertise in their application. The successful candidate will teach a mix of survey classes and upper-division courses in their areas of expertise. The teaching load is 4-4. This position is on a 3-year contract. A Ph.D. in History by July 1, 2026, is preferred, but applications from ABDs will be considered. Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, writing sample, statement of teaching methods and philosophy, and syllabi of courses taught or proposed by February 27, 2026.
