Job Title Assistant Professor, Art History Agency Texas A&M University - Kingsville Department Department Of Art, Comm, & Theatre Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location Kingsville, Texas Job Type Faculty Job Description The Department of Art, Communication, & Theater at Texas A&M University-Kingsville seek applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Art History for the start of the 2026 fall semester. Teaching duties include face-to-face and/or online art history courses at the undergraduate level and potential for developing seminar courses in the areas such as: Film, Print Media, Visual Studies; 19th and 20th Century Art, Contemporary European and Art of Latin America.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Teach undergraduate art history courses in support of the B.A. and B.F.A. studio art programs, as well as the general education and dual enrollment curriculum of the university + Provide timely feedback and instructor/student interaction in asynchronous online course format with occasions for online office hours and/or Q&A sessions. Regular weekly interaction is expected in online courses. + Have excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to relate to undergraduate students, especially with non-art majors.  + Engage in the mentoring and encouragement of students in the classroom; integration of culturally responsible pedagogy. + Ability to recruit and foster learning environments that support the needs of first generation and nontraditional students. + Ideally, the candidate will be dynamic, collaborative with studio faculty, collegial, and willing to contribute to the mission of the Department, College, and University.  + Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Chair and/or Dean.  ' Minimum Requirements + Ph.D. in Art History from a regionally accredited institution or university. Applicant should be broadly trained art history generalist with the ability to teach beginning courses and specialized seminar courses.  + Have at least 18 graduate hours in the field in which the applicant will teach.  + Commitment to the University’s Vision to provide the highest levels of engagement in relevant and dynamic learning experiences that establish life-long success and multi-generational prosperity. + Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written English Preferred Requirements + Scholarly expertise in Modern/Contemporary Art fields evidenced by published articles on these topics; an emerging record of professional activity as evidenced by conference presentations in art history or a related field. + At least two academic years of university level teaching experience in art history at the undergraduate level. + Experience teaching seminar courses in the areas of: Film, Print Media, Visual Studies; 19th and 20th Century Art, Contemporary European and Art of Latin America.  Instructions for Applicants + Selected candidates must pass a pre-employment background check to be hired for this position.  + Applicants must apply online at  http://www.tamuk.edu/Finance/hr/Employment/ and submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae, list of 4 reference, and copies of all transcripts (Undergraduate and Graduate). + Prior to issuing letter of appointment, official transcripts must be received directly from each degree-granting institution to the Office of the Provost, Texas A&M University-Kingsville, MSC 102, Kingsville, Texas 78363-8202. However, for review of application, applicants may submit unofficial transcripts from each institution of higher education attended directly to the search committee chair.
