**Job Title: Assistant Press Operator**
**Job Description**
The Assistant Press Operator plays a crucial role in supporting the setup and operation of presses and coaters, as well as associated support equipment. This position involves preparing the work zone and components before setups and during operations, loading and unloading components, and ensuring the finished product is packed and sealed efficiently.
**Responsibilities**
+ Proactively monitor and document product quality during all phases of operations.
+ Identify and load or unload raw materials and finished goods such as PS stock, paper, boxes, and cores.
+ Build, label, pack, and seal boxes and pallets as required.
+ Move pallets, stack them, and shrink-wrap for shipment preparation.
+ Operate finishing equipment such as fan folders, sheeters, baggers, tape machines, turrets, and others.
+ Directly support the setup of the press/coater and turret/sheeter/folder or other finishing equipment.
+ Prepare, test, and apply adhesives, inks, releases, or other chemicals to support operations.
+ Measure and adjust pH, viscosity, and color of ink, varnish, adhesive, or other chemicals.
+ Mount printing plates and dies onto cylinders.
+ Assemble components on prep carts to expedite machine setup.
+ Select, identify, insert, and remove plates, aniloxes or gravure cylinders from presses and components from turrets or finishing equipment.
+ Clean and store aniloxes, gravure cylinders, or printing plates properly.
**Essential Skills**
+ Production and general labor skills.
+ Experience with heavy lifting and machine operation.
+ Mechanical aptitude.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
+ Manufacturing experience preferred.
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ Capability to lift up to 50 lbs.
+ Basic computer and math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
+ Ability to read scale measurements within 1/64.
+ Proficiency in entering data legibly and accurately into forms and computers.
+ Competence in reading, writing, interpreting, and comprehending simple instructions, correspondence, and memos.
+ Understanding of safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and operating manuals.
+ Ability to read and understand work orders and ask relevant questions.
+ Effective communication skills with coworkers and management.
+ Ability to work collaboratively in a team to meet business requirements.
+ Regular and predictable attendance.
**Work Environment**
The work environment is non-climate controlled. The position requires working a day shift from 7 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Thursday. There is an opportunity to advance to a Press Operator role, which may require transitioning to a 2nd or 3rd shift.

**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, Kansas.
**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $18.38 - $18.38/hr.
