Assistant Operations Manager
JYL Transportation, Inc. About the Role + Serve as a liaison with clients, caregivers, and program staff members. + Be responsible for and oversee driver and monitor scheduling for all daily running routes and van schedules. + Manage and oversee daily operations. + Manage employee performance by setting and communicating standards, expectations, measuring results and providing feedback. + Actively develop, lead and promote the use of work teams and best practices for process improvement. + Interview, hire, and train new transportation coordinators and supervisors. + Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for dispatch, employee training and certification, routing, and safety practices. + Maintain appropriate staffing levels for drivers and monitors. + Ensure all employees have proper certifications, training requirements, and licensing. + Oversee the vehicle maintenance and repair process and keep our vans in a high state of readiness. + Review and prepare billing each month. + Assist with any other tasks or projects as assigned by the Operations Manager or Vice President. About You: The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience to positively impact the lives of adults and children throughout the state of Massachusetts by providing mobility without limits. + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in operations management, transportation management, business administration, or related field. + 5+ years of progressive work experience in a work environment that is fast-paced, management of hourly staff, and responsible for managing metrics. + Proficient experience in the use of Microsoft Office and is willing to learn new software and technology. + Maintain a good driving record and enjoy working in an environment that is 100% committed to supporting our clients. + Self-motivated, show initiative and have a strong work ethic. + Must be comfortable with early-morning hours. + Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. + Effective customer service and conflict resolution skills. + Must be detail-oriented, like solving problems, and can adapt to a dynamic and changing environment. + Maintain a very high standard of accuracy and confidentiality. + Demonstrates composure and professionalism in fast‑paced, high‑pressure situations. Work Environment: This is primarily an office position. JYL is a professional environment involving constant interaction with drivers, monitors, transportation coordinators, management, and other employees. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers. Physical Demands: This position requires the ability to sit, stand, walk, climb, or balance and stoop, kneel, reach, or crouch. This role requires sitting in front of a computer, as well as standing/walking while training indoors and outdoors. You must be able to travel to other bases/locations as required.
