Monday – Friday, 7a – 4p, Every other Saturday 7a-1p (7a-3p Summer). Summary Provides customer service through management of a retail store engaged in selling building products to professionals and the general public and growing the H Builder relationship by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
+ Ensures customer satisfaction and company profitability through the application of the company philosophy of good business practices.
+ Oversees the daily work progress and flow of customer service of counter & yard sales, receiving, reception and other assigned store personnel.
+ Performs duties of supervised personnel as required on a daily basis. Provides backup to Store Manager duties.
+ Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties. Provides weekly reports of assignments, schedules, and staffing.
+ Manages empty peg worksheet process. Minimizes slow moving back stock. Makes recommendations to Purchasing of new products or increased/decreased inventory level needs.
+ Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
+ Ensures store cleanliness and presentation features to include entrance and parking areas.
+ Reviews store operations and merchandising daily to reduce inventory shrinkage and encourage maximum sales potential of product.
+ Ensures subordinates “aisle” responsibilities are maintained – bin tag and item pricing are up-to-date, shelves are clean, stocked and fronted.
+ Responds to customer's complaints or inquiries.
+ Provides ongoing training and support to store personnel. Manages counter sales employees regarding location accounts initiatives (i.e. H-Builder).
+ Opens and closes store, ensuring security of building. Prepares cash drawers and ensures proper phone settings.
+ Works to maintain harmony and workflow between store functions – building supply and paint sales & support, receiving, merchandising, purchasing, and customer service.
+ Participates in all required training assignments.
+ Displays teamwork and effort in performance of all duties
Supervisory Responsibilities Directly and/or indirectly supervises up to 25 employees in the Store Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring & training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or 3 or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination.
Physical requirements While performing the duties of this job the employee will need to frequently communicate with others and must be able to exchange accurate information. Manual dexterity as needed to operate a variety of machinery and equipment. Frequently needs to lift and/or move items that weigh up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
