Assistant General Counsel - VP, Employment Counseling & Litigation

About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join the Employment Counseling & Litigation Section in the Employment & Investigations Division of the Wells Fargo Legal Department.

In this role, you will:

Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as a key participant in large scale planningHandle matters that have a significant impact on the Company's operations, strategies, or profitabilityProvide legal advice on matters for management of the Corporation and its subsidiariesServe as a legal advisor to the businesses within Wells FargoReview and analyze complex large scale or long-term challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors including intangibles or unprecedented factorsRepresent of the Company in highly complex litigation, negotiations, settlement discussions, and claims related legal issuesManage highly complex claims and litigationDraft complex legal documents, review and negotiate documents prepared by outside counselIdentify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolutionProvide substantive legal advice on matters for more experienced management of the CorporationDevelop and lead implementation of strategic business initiatives, and lead work team to meet deliverables and drive new initiativesEducate, train, and supervise less experienced attorneys within the Legal departmentCollaborate strategically with peers, colleagues, and mid-level to more experienced managers to resolve issues and achieve goalsLead projects, teams or serve as a peer mentorDevelop relationships with and provide guidance to more experienced leadership, including executive officers, on issues that may present legal, regulatory, compliance, or reputational risk to the CompanyPartner with business leaders and management of other corporate departments to develop and implement risk management programs


Required Qualifications:

5+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, educationActive State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States
 

Desired Qualifications:

Experience as a practicing attorney in private practice, in-house legal department and/or regulatory agencyAbility to analyze state and federal employment law, regulatory issues and provide effective advice to clients on complex employment legal mattersExperience with management-side labor law, including organizing campaigns, collective bargaining, and labor-relations lawsuits, charges, arbitration hearings and administrative proceedingsExperience with FINRA matters, including providing counsel and guidance regarding complex employment law issues involving employees who are licensed through FINRA and experience handling arbitration of employment claims before FINRAExperience handling employment litigation, administrative issues, and arbitration of employment claims before AAA, JAMS, or other arbitration forumsAbility to effectively organize and prioritize work while handling matters of significanceAbility to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaborationEffective in building partnerships, functioning well with project teams, and working for the success of the team


Job Expectations:

Travel up to 10%Ability to work at one of our approved posted locationsAbility to work a hybrid schedule, in office at least 3 days a week

Pay Range
 

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to demonstrated examples of prior performance, skills, experience, or work location. Employees may also be eligible for incentive opportunities.

$159,000.00 - $279,000.00
