This is an entry level engineering position that will report to the Division Traffic Engineer. This position will be responsible for traffic engineering studies and evaluations related to roadways, intersections, traffic signals, signage, pavement markings, speed limits, safety analysis and other traffic engineering related work in Division 10. This position will perform professional level engineering analysis for, but not be limited to, traffic signal warrant analysis, capacity analysis, isolated and coordinated signal timing and retiming, evaluation for need for various signs and pavement markings as provided for in the MUTCD, speed limit evaluations and safety and crash studies. This position is responsible for directly supervising one engineering technician. In addition this position will be responsible for responding to complaints or requests for information from the public and other government agencies regarding traffic and safety related issues and concerns. Normal work hours are Monday-Friday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm; however this position will have to work some morning hours from 6:00 am to 8:00 am and some evening hours from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm when doing signal timing related work. Experience with personnel management is preferred. Must have the ability to operate computer using Microsoft and SAP applications. Will be expected to legally operate a state motor vehicle. Employee will be subject to outside environmental conditions, noise and traffic hazards and will be required to traverse difficult and steep terrain.
