Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Assistant Director Patient Sft.

In this role, the successful candidate .Reporting to the Senior Director Patient Safety/Risk Management, assumes responsibility for overseeing NYU Langone Health Brooklyns Patient Safety/Risk Management staff; development, implementation and monitoring of enterprise-wide Risk Management/Patient Safety program, projects, policies and procedures in accordance with New York States medical malpractice prevention program and Public Health Law, The Joint Commission standards, and Federal requirements

Job Responsibilities:

Performs other duties as assigned Develops, implements and monitors Patient Safety/Risk Management projects, policies and procedures Provides consultation/assistance to hospital medical/nursing staff on Risk Management/Patient Safety issues and hospital policy Facilitates compliance with insurance, legal and regulatory requirements, included but not limited to: Completion of Discovery requests, Insurance alerts for unanticipated outcomes, Compliance with New York States Department of Health (Article 28) and Office of Mental Health reporting requirements. Oversees completion of QA referrals, and reviews of specific patient complaints or Joint Commission complaint inquiries Coordinates the review of all hospital incident reports, adverse event review process, facilitates and oversees a thorough and credible RCA process for defined adverse events as well as corresponding risk reduction strategies, follow up and measures of success Collaborates with FHC administrative leadership in review of adverse events and conduction of Root Cause Analysis. Assists Regulatory affairs on issues related to the Department of Health, Office of Professional Medical Conduct and Office of the Professions Generates quarterly reports on Patient Safety/Risk Management data for internal and external use. Identifies trends for performance improvement Coordinates with other clinical and administrative departments regarding patient safety/risk management issues Provides direction and coordinates counsel to physician, nursing and administrative staff regarding medical-legal issues. Monitors Risk Management cases and issues. Maintains liaison with NYU Hospitals Office of Legal Affairs and with outside counsel on issues related to malpractice litigation or potential litigation Serves on NYULMCs QA&I Committees including but not limited to Environment of Care, Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, Medication Safety Committee, Clinical Service Line Committees as needed, Legal Defense Committee, Patient Safety Committee, Monthly Insurance Committee meeting. Facilitates preparation of the agenda for, and presentation of RCAs at, the Patient Safety Committee.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Registered Nurse with BSN preferred; or Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration or related experience. Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive experience in patient safety, or risk management or quality improvement in an Academic Medical Center or Teaching Hospital. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
Masters Degree. Previous experience in coordinating all aspects of a risk management program or Quality Assurance/Improvement program. In depth knowledge of New York State Public Health Law, New York Code, Rules and Regulations relating to minimum standards for hospitals, TJC standards, NYPORTS reporting criteria, HIPAA, Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Act, CMS Conditions of Participation.
Certification in Health Care Risk Management

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $114,765.35 – $191,275.77 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
