Manage the Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) staff while staying abreast of the legal job market and identifying ways to increase employment opportunities for law students and alumni.

Responsibilities Manage and motivate team members to achieve specified goalsDevelop and implement outreach efforts and recruitment of legal employers (traditional and non-traditional)Devise, plan, and announce innovative programming to present day/evening/weekend seminars to students (including 1L career services orientation) on all aspects of job search and career developmentPrepare written materials on all aspects of job search and career developmentMaintain and use knowledge of OCPD services to assist students, alumni, and employersMaintain up-to-date knowledge of legal job market and anticipate employment trendsAssess needs of students and alumniSet goals for OCPD and each team memberEstablish office policies and proceduresConduct outreach to potential employersCounsel JD and LLM students and alumni on job search strategies and career development, including, resume writing, interviewing, networking, negotiating salaries, and other career related issuesReview and edit resumes, cover letters, personal statements and thank you lettersCoordinate administration of programs with other departments and student groupsParticipate in accepted student receptionsMeet with prospective students at the request of Admissions OfficeCoordinate with Director of Externship Programs as it relates to placementsTrack and prepare statistical information on job placement for reporting purposes including: ABA surveys, NALP surveys, on-campus interviews, etcServe on committees and work groups as requestedServe as a liaison with bar associations and other professional organizationsAssist in devising marketing materials for prospective students and employersAssist in conducting mock interviewsMaintain counseling records of student interactionsAttend faculty meetings and events and receptions at the law schoolParticipate in local bar association activities and eventsOther duties as assigned by the Dean Qualifications Education/ExperienceJuris Doctor degree requiredAdmission to New York State Bar or any other State barPrior experience in private law firm, government, or public interest organizationKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesKnowledge of the legal marketplaceRecruiting experience requiredManagerial experience requiredExcellent organization skills and attention to detailExcellent written and oral communication skillsExcellent interpersonal skillsTravelMinimal to attend meetings, social events, and conferences.Working ConditionsSitting and StandingExtensive use of computers Maximum Salary USD $140,676.00/Yr.
