Job Description:

The University of Florida College of Medicine is seeking applications for the role of Assistant Dean for Clinical Medical Education, a vital leadership position reporting to the Associate Dean for Medical Education. This role is open to current UF College of Medicine faculty.

The Assistant Dean will oversee Phases 2 and 3 (clinical years) of the curriculum, collaborating closely with clerkship directors, course faculty, and education leaders to ensure high-quality clinical education that prepares students for residency and lifelong learning.

About This Role

Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the clinical curriculum (Phases 2 & 3). Maintain curriculum mapping and promote horizontal and vertical integration of clinical content. Lead clerkship director meetings and annual retreats in collaboration with medical education leadership. Oversee clerkship orientation, 4th-year scheduling, and the 3rd-year scheduling process. Monitor student progress to ensure completion of graduation competencies and clinical requirements. Review and approve Phase 3 independent study projects and externship applications. Support faculty development and onboarding for clerkship directors and clinical educators. Provide oversight of selective and elective courses and ensure high-quality student experience. Collaborate with assessment leaders to maintain valid, reliable evaluations of clinical performance. Review performance data and work with Student Affairs to remediate clinical deficiencies. Coordinate faculty evaluations and performance reviews with the Associate Dean for Medical Education. Lead or support medical education scholarship aligned with strategic priorities. Ensure compliance with LCME accreditation standards and assist with accreditation documentation. Disseminate national trends and best practices in clinical medical education. Represent clinical faculty on medical education committees and participate in milestone events.

This is a 0.30 FTE administrative appointment.
