Assistant Controller - Investment Oversight Job ID 218741 Posted 12-May-2025 Service line Advisory Segment Role type Full-time Areas of Interest Accounting/Finance Location(s) New York City - New York - United States of America **About The Role:** We are looking for an Assistant Controller – Investment Oversight for CBRE Investment Accounting & Reporting Solutions, an exciting and growing environment. Contributors in this role assist in coordinating financial reporting and performing analytical review of property owner entities. **What You'll Do:** + Coordinate the collection of financial and operational data from clients and third-party providers for underlying entities. + Oversee and support the accounting and reporting process, working closely with property management accounting teams throughout reporting cycles. + Perform reviews of financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness. + Conduct variance analyses to identify and explain deviations in financial performance. + Complete detailed asset-level financial reviews, including property-level bank account reconciliations, accounts receivable, management fees, fixed assets, debt, straight-line rent and income statement variances. + Assist in coordinating and supporting third-party audits, including preparation of audit schedules and responses to auditor inquiries. + Support investment oversight activities such as variance analysis, performance tracking, and compliance monitoring. + Review and support transaction processes, including property sales and dispositions, ensuring accurate accounting treatment and documentation. + Collaborate with asset managers, clients, fund accountants, and auditors to ensure timely and accurate reporting. + Maintain and enhance internal controls and documentation processes. + Participate in system implementations and process improvement initiatives. **What You'll Need:** To perform this job successfully, an individual will need to perform each crucial duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. + Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance and 5+ years accounting experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. + Prior experience in real estate accounting and analytics required. + Requires proven knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) regulations including an understanding of financial terms and principles to include accounting methods: cash, accrual, fair value, and GAAP. + Knowledge of real estate terms, definitions, and real estate analytical methodology. The minimum salary for this position is $90,000 annually and the maximum salary for this position is $110,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.
