Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to oversee our monthly accounting close and financial reporting processes. This key role will collaborate across departments to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial planning aligned with company growth objectives.

The Assistant Controller will manage audit activities and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, ensuring timely and accurate reporting. They will lead initiatives to improve financial processes and controls, while providing daily oversight of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger operations.

This role is also responsible for preparing and distributing monthly financial reporting packages to internal stakeholders, including clear explanations of budget-to-actual variances. The ideal candidate will drive efficiency through variance analysis, ensure compliance with GAAP and SOX requirements, and mentor junior team members to promote a culture of continuous learning and excellence.

Responsibilities

Lead the monthly close process and oversee preparation of financial statements.Partner with teams to develop budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans.Coordinate audit activities and serve as the primary contact for external auditors.Champion process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across finance operations.Supervise daily operations of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.Prepare and share monthly financial reporting packages with internal stakeholders, including variance explanations.Analyze budget-to-actual results to identify trends and drive operational efficiencies.Ensure adherence to GAAP, SOX, and other applicable regulatory standards.Support and mentor junior team members, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.

Essential Skills

Strong proficiency in core accounting functions including general ledger management, reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, journal entries, accounts payable, and audit coordination.Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.At least three years of progressive experience in accounting or financial operations.Familiarity with key manufacturing financial concepts such as Work-in-Progress (WIP) and EBITDA..

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior supervisory experience is a plus.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other business software tools.Demonstrated ability to make independent decisions in routine operational matters.Eligible to work with ITAR-regulated products and data without restrictions.Willingness to relocate if promoted, including potential transitions to other business units.

Work Environment

This is a fully on-site position located at our company headquarters, where the accounting team operates from the top floor. The Assistant Controller will work closely with the VP of Finance, Staff Accountant, and Cost Accountant to support daily operations and strategic initiatives. The role follows a 9/80 work schedule—employees work nine hours Monday through Thursday, with alternating Fridays off, and eight hours on working Fridays. Start times typically range between 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM, depending on departmental and management preferences. Renovations are planned later this year to modernize and enhance the workspace environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Clearwater, Florida.

This is a role where they are looking to promote quickly. They expect this person to be in the role for 2-4 years and move up within the company. Possible relocation required when promoted.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $132000.00/yr.
