Assistant Controller
Job Title: Assistant ControllerJob Description

The Assistant Controller is an integral part of the accounting team, assisting the corporate controller in managing all aspects associated with the general ledger and job cost efficiently and accurately. This role involves directing the organization’s accounting functions in conjunction with the Corporate Controller, ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy and process improvement, and preferably have experience in construction and percentage of completion accounting.

ResponsibilitiesEnsure the team's adherence to and execution of the company's accounting procedures and controls in accordance with GAAP.Assist in overseeing the operations of the Accounting Department alongside the Corporate Controller.Manage and mentor the accounting staff, providing guidance and training.Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; implement a system of controls over accounting transactions to minimize risk.Ensure the accuracy and integrity of General Ledger and Job Cost entries reflecting monthly activities.Lead the accounting staff in Billing, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, GL reconciliations, and Journal Entries supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycles.Assist the controller in establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies, procedures, and internal control.Identify solutions to discrepancies in financial records.Oversee and provide backup for all AP and AR functions.Perform full cycle accounting, handling monthly close and reconciliations across various accounts.Perform balance sheet account analysis and maintain monthly reconciliations.Maintain fixed asset schedules and reconcile PPE monthly.Prepare, manage, and record all Month End Accruals and reconcile vendor statement of accounts.Maintain, manage, and record intercompany eliminations.Review Indirect and SGA Accounts for unusual or excessive activity and report monthly.Identify, research, and consult on variances within monthly financial statements.Prepare and coordinate the maintenance of business licenses in respective jurisdictions.Coordinate with external tax preparers for Federal and State Tax payments.Prepare and coordinate tax reporting and payments at various levels.Assist in the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.Coordinate and manage external audit and tax preparation processes.Troubleshoot and resolve transactional errors in the ERP system.
Essential SkillsStrong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and relevant industry regulations.Experience with Sage 100 or Sage 300 Accounting software.4-7+ years of progressive accounting experience.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Suite, including v-lookups and pivot tables.
Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.CPA (Certified Public Accountant) license preferred.Experience with Sage Intacct and ERP change is preferred.ADP experience is a plus.Experience with subcontract agreements, lien waivers, and job cost analysis is a plus.Combination of private and public company or public accounting experience is a plus.Experience with multi-site reporting and management is a plus.
Work Environment

This position is office-based, Monday through Friday. The candidate will join a dynamically growing company in a beautiful new office. The environment may be fast-paced due to growth and building out a team, so adaptability is essential.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Longwood, Florida.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $135000.00 - $145000.00/yr.
