As a Forest Planning Associate at Campbell Global (CG), you will deliver timely and accurate forest planning models and related valuation analysis. Your work will include harvest scheduling and valuation analysis for assets under management, acquisitions, and dispositions. Using industry-standard forest optimization software and CG’s proprietary valuation tools, you will model potential acquisition opportunities and long-term plans for assets under management. You will collaborate with teams across Acquisitions, Resource and Valuation Solutions, Operations, and Portfolio Management.
Job Responsibilities
Develop acquisition harvest schedules and valuation models, and prepare operational and executive summary materials for internal and external audiences. Partner with CG’s Acquisition team to meet deadlines and assure high underwriting standards. Create long-term strategic and tactical plans for assets under management to support investment and forest management decisions. Assess trade-offs between timber harvest and carbon sequestration in optimization and valuation models. Build and maintain discounted cash flow models using CG’s Timberland Investment Model software, including periodic updates for annual and quarterly valuations. Provide optimization modeling and valuation analysis for dispositions of all sizes. Support ongoing analysis, verification, and planning for existing carbon project on assets under management. Assist in feasibility assessments and analysis for developing carbon projects on acquisitions and managed assets. Contribute to the enhancement of CG’s proprietary planning and valuation tools, resources, and reporting systems. Actively participate in organizational initiatives to ensure all timberland management investment services meet or exceed client commitments. Represent Campbell Global professionally at all levels, maintaining positive public relations.Required qualifications, capabilities and skills
Advanced degree in Forestry, Natural Resources or closely related field; and a minimum of three years working experience in a related field; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Experience with harvest scheduling software and optimization techniques, including proficiency with Remsoft’s Woodstock suite. Demonstrated expertise in timberland financial analysis and discounted cash flow modeling. Knowledge of forest product markets, inventory, forest growth and yield, forest operations, and silvicultural management. Proven ability to collaborate effectively in multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal abilities. Experience designing and writing SQL queries and functions for relational databases. Proficiency in a structured programming language such as R or Python. Background in carbon-focused measurements and carbon offset protocols. Experience or knowledge in international forestry.
