Assembly Technician

Job Title: Assembly Technician

Job Description

As an Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for accurately and safely assembling electromechanical assemblies based on drawings, written, or verbal instructions. You will be involved in tasks such as stripping, crimping, and splicing electrical components, building mechanical subassemblies, and ensuring proper torque specifications for fasteners. Your role will also include routing cables, securing wiring, and attaching labels or nameplates to assemblies. You will use standard assembly tools and read electrical schematics to perform inspections and tests on subassemblies.

Responsibilities

Assemble electromechanical assemblies according to specifications.Strip, crimp, and splice electrical components.Build mechanical subassemblies using various fastening methods.Torque fasteners to proper specifications and sequence.Route cables and secure wiring throughout systems.Attach labels or nameplates to assemblies and components.Measure dimensions to verify part clearance.Use standard assembly tools safely.Read and interpret electrical schematics.Inspect and test subassemblies for mechanical functionality and electrical continuity.Escalate errors in the bill of material structure to appropriate personnel.Visually inspect components for flaws and escalate issues.Assist with miscellaneous tasks including packaging, material handling, and warehouse cleanup.Maintain a clean and safe work environment and participate in the 5S program.Participate in continuous improvement activities.Communicate ideas and facts professionally to stakeholders.Perform repetitive tasks and sit or stand for long periods.Possess manual dexterity for quick and accurate assembly.

Essential Skills

2+ years of experience in assembly or building.Proficiency in using hand and power tools.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.Experience with mechanical assembly and wire harness.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Proficiency in building cables and wire harness assemblies.Working knowledge of IPC 620.Basic proficiency in wire routing and termination for UL 508A electrical panels.Ability to manage multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities.Experience with uploading component firmware and documenting as-built changes.Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.Capability to rework and repair equipment and products.

Work in a large warehouse/production/manufacturing facility. Individual workstations are under construction, and you will use hand and power tools for assembly tasks. The environment promotes safety and cleanliness, with a focus on continuous improvement.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of TUALATIN, OR.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $28.00/hr.
