Assembly Technician
**Job Title: Technician** **Job Description** This position involves refurbishing and building flash butt welding equipment and rail pullers. You will be responsible for disassembling and assembling hydraulic welding systems, and using your heavy-duty assembly experience to ensure high-quality work. Basic grinding skills are required, along with the ability to utilize various tools such as drills, drivers, saws, impacts, sanders, torque wrenches, die grinders, and rivet guns. Basic computer skills are necessary for reading layouts and mechanical prints. Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems on machinery to determine root causes of problems is a key part of the role. **Responsibilities** + Refurbish and build flash butt welding equipment and rail pullers. + Disassemble and assemble hydraulic welding systems. + Utilize a variety of tooling to test equipment and service welding machinery. + Perform mechanical testing on various components of the welder head and puller. + Operate automatic flash-butt welding equipment. + Repair and restore worn and damaged components. + Build and test hydraulic and stick welding during fabrication of welding quadrant. + Ensure welding equipment produces welds meeting AREMA specifications. + Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems on machinery. + Complete repairs on heavy industrial hydraulic and mechanical operated equipment. **Essential Skills** + Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. + Assembly and repair experience. + Hydraulic systems expertise. + MIG and STICK welding experience. + Ability to read and understand schematics and mechanical prints. + Micrometer and caliper experience. + Forklift, manlift, and scissor lift operation certification. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + MIG/TIG welding proficiency. + Blueprint welding. + Hydraulic experience. + Refurbishing experience. + Farm equipment repair. **Why Work Here?** Join a dynamic team that values skill development and offers opportunities for overtime. Comfort with outdoor conditions in various weather is necessary. While the role is currently shop-based, there may be opportunities to work off-site in the future. The facility can be warm during summer and cold in other seasons, and the workspace may be dirty and dingy. Physical requirements include standing, walking, stooping, crouching, reaching, kneeling, and bending for extended periods. Sitting may be required occasionally. Lifting up to 50 pounds is regularly necessary, and vision must be sufficient for reading prints and schematics. Frequent climbing of steep ladders and moving up and down from trucks are part of the job. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of University Park, Illinois. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $29.00/hr.
