Assembly Technician
**Job Title: Assembly Technician** **Job Description** The Assembly Technician position involves mechanical and electrical assembly of fiber laser cutting machines, including subassemblies. The role requires adherence to work instructions, standard operating procedures, and safety guidelines. You will collaborate with the manufacturing team to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. **Responsibilities** + Assemble fiber laser cutting machines and subassemblies using drawings, schematics, process documentation, work instructions, and verbal instructions. + Receive, unload, and unpack materials required for assembly. + Prepare tools, fixtures, and documentation needed for assembly runs. + Perform in-process testing, final testing, and record test data as specified in work instructions and inspection test plans. + Conduct basic parts and subassembly transactions using SAP ERP system and other applicable software interfaces to record assembly steps completed. + Fill out and maintain documentation related to machine assembly in electronic and hard copy formats. + Follow safety guidelines and recommendations established by the company and manufacturing department. + Participate in projects and continuous improvement activities. + Maintain cleanliness and organization of production floor and workstation, including preventive maintenance of tools and applicable instrumentation used in production and testing. + Complete assembly tasks in a timely manner with acceptable quality. + Develop productive and collaborative working relationships with all team members. + Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to cross-train on different functions and product families. **Essential Skills** + Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. + High School Diploma or GED. Associate degree preferred but not required. + Minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing assembly environment. Machine building or machine service experience preferred. + Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret work instructions, engineering drawings, and blueprints. + Proficiency in using hand tools and powered tools such as wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, pliers, drills, pneumatic tools, etc. + Ability to use fixtures and other applicable manufacturing aids in the assembly process. + Basic computer skills. + Knowledge of basic technology terms and mechanical/electrical interactions of sub-systems within a system. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Some domestic or international travel may be required for training purposes. **Why Work Here?** Join a forward-thinking company that values collaboration and continuous improvement. A second automation line will be introduced in the fall to enhance production output. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hoffman Estates, Illinois. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $27.00/hr.
