Responsibilities

Perform laboratory asphalt testing per ODOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards (mix properties, compaction, gradation, density, binder content, etc.).Support asphalt evaluation activities in both lab and field environments.Prepare and process asphalt samples, including heating, splitting, molding, and conditioning.Operate asphalt testing equipment, which may include: Marshall or gyratory compaction devices, Ignition ovens, Rice (maximum specific gravity) apparatus, Nuclear density gauges (Level 2 requirement)Collect, document, and report test data in accordance with applicable specifications.Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensuring compliance with quality assurance programs.Communicate with engineers, project managers, and contractor personnel to support testing needs.Adhere to safety standards, especially when working with nuclear gauges and hot materials.

Essential Skills

ODOT Level 2 Asphalt Technician certification.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $30.00/hr.
