Responsibilities + Perform laboratory asphalt testing per ODOT, AASHTO, and ASTM standards (mix properties, compaction, gradation, density, binder content, etc.). + Support asphalt evaluation activities in both lab and field environments. + Prepare and process asphalt samples, including heating, splitting, molding, and conditioning. + Operate asphalt testing equipment, which may include: Marshall or gyratory compaction devices, Ignition ovens, Rice (maximum specific gravity) apparatus, Nuclear density gauges (Level 2 requirement) + Collect, document, and report test data in accordance with applicable specifications. + Maintain and calibrate lab equipment, ensuring compliance with quality assurance programs. + Communicate with engineers, project managers, and contractor personnel to support testing needs. + Adhere to safety standards, especially when working with nuclear gauges and hot materials. Essential Skills + ODOT Level 2 Asphalt Technician certification.
