Architecture Technology Senior Manager - BBVA Brazil
Excited to grow your career?

BBVA is a global company with more than 160 years of history that operates in more than 25 countries where we serve more than 80 million customers. We are more than 121,000 professionals working in multidisciplinary teams with profiles as diverse as financiers, legal experts, data scientists, developers, engineers and designers.

The CIB Technology area is the strategic pillar responsible for ensuring the integrity, availability, and security of information assets for the Investment Banking division in Brazil. Our mission is to ensure that technology not only meets BBVA's global standards but also responds with agility to local regulatory requirements, driving a modern and resilient data infrastructure.

About the job:

As the Data Governance & Architecture Technology Lead within BBVA’s Investment Banking division in Brazil, you will be a hands-on senior leader responsible for the data governance model, the onboarding of local Brazil applications into the corporate data warehouse (ADA), and the definition/enforcement of application development standards and platforms. You will also own technology obsolescence management and the strategy for development and testing environments, ensuring solutions are resilient, scalable, secure, and aligned with BBVA global standards and local regulatory expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Own the Data Governance operating model for Brazil (domains, ownership, stewardship, policies, data quality, metadata, lineage, and controls), ensuring audit-ready traceability and accountability across critical datasets.

Lead onboarding of local applications into ADA, defining intake processes, data contracts, integration patterns, and standards for ingestion (batch/stream), reconciliation, and certification of datasets before consumption.

Architect data models and pipelines that enforce data quality rules, monitoring, and exception management, enabling trusted analytics and regulatory/management reporting use cases.

Define and enforce application development standards (secure coding, architecture patterns, API/interface standards, documentation, testing strategy, and SDLC controls) across the local engineering ecosystem.

Own application development platforms and the developer experience: CI/CD pipelines, source control, artifact management, runtime platforms, observability standards, and release controls aligned to BBVA global technology strategy.

Manage technology obsolescence and lifecycle: application/infrastructure currency, tech debt remediation, decommission plans, and modernization roadmaps to reduce operational risk and cost.

Design and operate development & testing environments (DEV/SIT/UAT/perf), including environment provisioning, test automation enablement, test data management, and non-prod resiliency—supporting faster, safer delivery.

Partner with Risk, Compliance, Legal, Finance, and global data/platform teams to translate requirements into controls and scalable solutions, including evidence production for internal/external audits and remediation tracking.

Oversee initiatives across asset classes—including Fixed Income, Derivatives, and Cash Management—ensuring technical solutions align with business objectives.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

10+ years in technology leadership within financial services, with strong experience in data architecture, data governance, and enterprise data platforms.

Proven track record designing and implementing governance/control frameworks (e.g., data lineage, audit trails, quality controls) across critical platforms.

Strong software engineering foundation and deep familiarity with modern stacks: cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), data platforms (e.g., Snowflake/Databricks), orchestration (e.g., Airflow), and integration/messaging patterns.

Extensive hands-on experience architecting and building cloud-native, distributed systems with high availability, fault tolerance, and scalability.

Demonstrated ability to lead technology delivery end-to-end (design/build/run), define standards, and operate production-grade platforms with strong security and resilience.

Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills in complex, global environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience onboarding applications into a corporate data warehouse and operating a formal dataset certification process (quality gates, controls, and consumption readiness).

Knowledge of Brazilian regulatory expectations impacting data and technology controls (e.g., BACEN/CVM) and experience supporting audit activities.

Spanish language is a plus.
