AR Specialist

Job Description

The Accounts Receivable Collections Specialist is responsible for managing and enhancing the company's cash collections process with a primary focus on reducing accounts receivable aging and mitigating cash flow risk. The individual will also design and document processes to be implemented by the Accounts Receivable team and supported through future system enhancements.

Responsibilities

Proactively manage a portfolio of customer accounts to ensure timely payment of outstanding invoices.Execute collection strategies to reduce past-due balances and improve overall days sales outstanding (DSO).Conduct regular reviews of aging reports to identify risks, trends, and high-priority accounts.Initiate and lead customer outreach via email and phone to drive invoice resolution and cash receipt.Investigate and resolve payment delays, billing discrepancies, and disputes in collaboration with internal teams.Maintain accurate documentation of collection activities, customer communications, and resolution outcomes.Provide weekly and monthly reporting on collections performance, aging trends, and cash receipts.Recommend enhancements to collections policies, procedures, and controls to improve efficiency and effectiveness.Develop and document standardized collections processes that can be leveraged by the AR team and supported by future system implementations.Support ad hoc finance initiatives related to cash flow optimization and AR process improvement.

Essential Skills

Hands-on experience in accounts receivable or collections, with over 5 years in a fast-paced or complex environment.Demonstrated success in cash collections and reducing aged receivable balances.Strong understanding of AR aging, credit and collections best practices, and cash flow management.Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and internal stakeholders.Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and recommend actionable solutions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cary, NC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
