Applied AI Scientist

Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Wealth Management Data & AI is responsible for delivering a global data foundation and innovative AI capabilities across all of Wealth Management’s global businesses.

Complementing our existing Data & AI roadmap, we’re building an applied AI lab, with a mandate to explore breakthrough AI methods and turn them into testable prototypes and capabilities to support our 6,000 wealth management professionals globally.

We are looking to hire an awesome Applied AI Scientist to help us apply knowledge graphs and graph databases to wealth advisory. You’ll use skills and research background to explore and build graph-powered prototypes that will elevate the client experience and advisor productivity—reshaping the competitive landscape of wealth advisory services globally.

What will you do?

Design and build knowledge graph architectures that model complex wealth relationships, enabling reasoning capabilities beyond traditional ML approaches

Develop ontologies and graph schemas that capture nuanced domain knowledge, making expertise queryable and scalable

Lead projects that integrate knowledge graphs with large language models (GraphRAG, knowledge-grounded generation) to deliver contextually accurate and explainable advisor tools

Translate wealth management business needs into testable graph-based solutions, from proof-of-concept to testable prototypes

Stay current with advances in knowledge representation, graph neural networks, and semantic technologies, incorporating them into the lab’s toolbox

Contribute to a growing culture of innovation by experimenting boldly with high-risk, high-reward approaches

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have:

Passion for solving open problems in real-world contexts using knowledge representation, graph-based reasoning, and data-driven approaches in real-world contexts

Master’s degree (or equivalent) in computer science, AI/machine learning, quantitative psychology, or another quantitative field

4–8 years of experience in AI/ML/data science, including a combination of graduate training, academia, public sector, and/or industry experience

Hands-on experience designing graph data models and working with graph databases (Neo4j, Amazon Neptune, TigerGraph) and/or knowledge graph frameworks (RDF/OWL, property graphs, SPARKQL)

Proficiency in Python and common graph libraries (NetworkX, PyG, DGL) and common ML tools (NumPy, Faker, PyTorch, TensorFlow, GitHub, Streamlit)

Experience building proofs-of-concept and prototypes to demonstrate novel concepts in practical application contexts

Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex AI concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences

Nice to Have:

Collaborative innovation experience in cross-functional teams

Knowledge of financial services or wealth management

Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Snowflake) and MLOps practices

Experience with semantic technologies, ontology engineering (Protégé, OWL, SKOS) or enterprise knowledge management

Familiarity with graph algorithms (community detection, link prediction, graph embeddings) and their application to real-world problems

Experience integrating knowledge graphs with LLMs—retrieval augmented generation or knowledge-grounded prompting

Academic publications or demonstrated thought leadership in knowledge graphs, AI/ML, or related topics

What’s in it for you?

We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper. We care about each other, reaching our potential, making a difference to our communities, and achieving success that is mutual.
