Purpose

The Epic Application Analyst supports the implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Epic software applications. This role collaborates with clinical and operational teams to analyze workflows, design system solutions, and ensure the efficient functioning of the applications. The position reports to the Manager of Enterprise Clinical Applications & Informatics and works closely with other IT professionals, clinical staff, and external vendors. Peer roles include other application analysts, data analysts, and IT support specialists.

Responsibilities

Application Implementation and Support
• Analyzes clinical, business, and technical processes to develop system solutions.
• Manages system upgrades and projects.
• Provides technical and application assistance to clients and IT staff.

Workflow Analysis and Optimization
• Conducts workflow analysis to identify areas for improvement.
• Designs and implements application solutions to meet department needs.
• Collaborates with departments to prioritize development initiatives.

System Maintenance and Troubleshooting
• Maintains and supports installed application software.
• Performs debugging, testing, and installation of software modules.
• Ensures system changes follow established change management procedures.

Documentation and Training
• Creates and maintains documentation for all assigned applications.
• Develops, plans, and executes testing for supported applications.
• Works with IT educators to update training plans and documentation.

Customer and Vendor Liaison
• Serves as a liaison between the IT Department, vendors, and clients.
• Participates in system support during daily operations and implementations.
• Provides project management support as required.

Marginal or Periodic Functions

Mentorship and Supervision
• Serves as a mentor to junior analysts and supervises work efforts as directed by the manager.

On-Call Support
• Participates in an on-call rotation schedule, providing 24/7 client support as necessary.

Travel
• Occasional travel to other offices for user needs, training classes, implementations, and conferences.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Technical Expertise

Analyzes and modifies software applications.

Debugs complex issues, designs robust solutions, and ensures system integrity.

Project Management

Manages system upgrades and large projects.

Develops timelines, coordinates resources, and meets deadlines.

Workflow Analysis

Conducts workflow analysis and recommends solutions.

Identifies inefficiencies, collaborates with stakeholders, and implements improvements.

Communication

Serves as a liaison between IT, vendors, and clients.

Facilitates meetings, provides clear updates, and resolves conflicts.

Documentation

Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation.

Writes clear instructions, updates manuals, and ensures accessibility.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

At least 2 years of experience in application support or information technology.

Active Epic Certification or Accreditation (considered) in relevant Core application

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

At least 4 years of experience in healthcare IT or Epic systems.

Additional IT certifications such as PMP or ITIL.

Salary Range

$79,316+ depending on qualifications
