Anthropologie is looking for an Associate Buyer who will be the bridge between creative vision and commercial reality. You are a trend-forecaster with a financial mind, responsible for nurturing a product assortment that surprises and delights our customers while ruthlessly driving profitability.
You will partner with the Buyer to co-create the "story" of the season—balancing the soulful, hand-crafted details our brand is known for with a data-backed strategy. You are a mentor to our junior talent and a high-energy collaborator who can pivot from a creative design meeting to a complex Open-to-Buy spreadsheet without missing a beat.
Role Responsibilities Strategic Assortment CurationPartner with the Buyer to build a timely, evocative product mix that balances "Hero" pieces (trend-forward, brand-defining) with "Volume" drivers (core essentials).Own the product lifecycle from initial sketch/source to the final markdown, ensuring the assortment maintains a healthy balance of novelty and commercial viability.Ensure "Direct-to-Consumer" and "Retail Store" assortments are optimized for their respective environments, recognizing that what works in a physical boutique may require a different digital strategy. Precision Business AnalysisLead the analysis of weekly sales and inventory, translating raw data into "Actionable Insights." Identify "winners" to chase and "underperformers" to exit strategically.Actively manage the Open-to-Buy (OTB), Initial Mark-Up (IMU), and Gross Margin targets. You are responsible for ensuring that the creative vision is also a profitable one.Proactively suggest markdown strategies or promotional shifts based on real-time sell-through and inventory aging. Collaborative Product DevelopmentWork hand-in-hand with Design and Product Development to "Anthropologie-ize" market finds and develop exclusive private-label pieces that cannot be found anywhere else.Manage domestic and international vendor relationships with a focus on cost negotiation, lead-time agility, and maintaining the highest standards of quality and fit. Cross-Functional StorytellingCollaborate with the Visual Merchandising and Creative teams to ensure the "Merchant Vision" translates to the store floor and digital homepage.Act as a central hub of information, ensuring Production, Planning, and Marketing are all aligned on product delivery dates and key "Big Ideas." People & Culture LeadershipDirectly manage and inspire Assistant Buyers and Merchandise Assistants, fostering an environment of curiosity, accountability, and rapid professional growth.Delegate effectively, ensuring the junior team is empowered to own their tasks while you maintain oversight of the "Big Picture" deadlines.

Role Qualifications Experience: 3–5 years in a high-growth retail buying environment (Apparel experience preferred).The "Anthro" Eye: A deep, intuitive understanding of the Anthropologie aesthetic—you know what she wants before she does.Retail Analytics: Expert-level command of Retail Math (Sell-through, Turn, GM/ROI, OTB, etc).Tech-Forward: Mastery of Excel and Google Sheets is a must; experience with AI-driven trend forecasting or PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) software is a significant plus.
