Disney’s Animals, Science and Environment is seeking candidates for an Animal Keeper position on the Night team. You will support a dynamic nighttime operation that takes place at both Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. In this role you will work effectively in a team environment with a team of keepers and Zoological Managers. You will carry out the nightly care of the animal collection in accordance with established guidelines and conduct animal experiences for Guests in a variety of situations. Ideal candidates will demonstrate knowledge and understanding of general husbandry, enrichment, and behavioral conditioning as it relates to the nightly management and research of a diverse collection of animals.
This is a Casual Temporary / Seasonal role with no guarantee of weekly working hours, as hours will fluctuate based on business needs.
If selected for this salaried role, you will report to a team of Zoological Managers.
Please note that this is a third shift, overnight position.
What You Will DoKeepers are responsible for the nightly animal care and welfare. This includes husbandry, enrichment, and behavioral conditioning as it relates to the nightly management and research of assigned species
Ensure the nightly routines of cleaning, animal observation, diet preparation and reporting medical needs or abnormal conditions to Zoological Managers
Maintain nightly records, collecting and logging information, and ensuring this information is communicated to management and the central animal record keeping system
The work includes physical labor in ambient outdoor temperatures and weather conditions in Central Florida, which may include extreme heat and humidity
Provide animal information and conservation messages through Guest and Cast interaction
Keepers must work well in a large team environment
Partner with maintenance, operation managers, horticulture, veterinary staff, educators and scientists
Candidates will work a third shift schedule, with the start of shift at 6:00 pm, and ending at 5:00 am.
Required Qualifications & SkillsFive years paid experience as a keeper in an AZA accredited institution, or in an institution with equivalent standards

Four years paid experience as a keeper in an AZA accredited institution, or in an institution with equivalent standards and at least 2 years of verifiable college course work (60 semester hours)
-OR-
Three years paid experience as a keeper in an AZA accredited institution, or in an institution with equivalent standards and at least 3 years of verifiable college course work (90 semester hours)
Observation, evaluation and data collecting skills
Experience applying operant conditioning techniques in the field
Proven strong interpersonal and partnering skills
Ability to work in a large team environment
Ability to meet the physical demands of the role including lifting manure, moving doors, and carrying heavy objects (bales of bedding, feed bags, etc.)
Demonstrates strong guest focus and promotes guest experiences
Preferred QualificationsExperience working with a variety of African species, including but not limited to, large and small ungulates, and experience with carnivores (tigers/lions)
Required EducationBachelor's or Associate's Degree in Zoology or related field of study preferred
