Provo City is hiring a full-time Animal Control Supervisor to work in the enforcement of animal control codes and statutes. This position has a strict emphasis in animal code enforcement and has responsibility for supervising the Animal Control Officers in the department. What is the compensation package?
Pay Range: (G30) $30.95 - $42.67 per hour (depending on experience)

+ Patrol assigned areas to protect public safety and animal welfare.
+ Respond to and investigate citizen complaints involving animals, including animal control violations, cruelty cases, animal bites, and suspected rabies.
+ Enforce animal control laws by issuing warnings, citations, summons, licenses, and filing court cases; prepare reports and testify in court as required.
+ Capture, impound, transport, or dispose of stray, vicious, injured, sick, dead, rabid, or problematic animals and wildlife, including livestock when necessary.
+ Utilize animal control tools and equipment, including chemical immobilization and euthanasia agents including handling lethal, controlled, and hazardous substances in accordance with regulations.
+ Coordinate operations with the assigned animal shelter and inspect regulated facilities such as pet stores as required.
+ Supervise and coordinate assigned staff, including scheduling, training, performance evaluation, and personnel actions such as discipline, rewards, hiring, and termination, to ensure efficient and accurate operations.
+ Prepare, maintain, and review reports, records, documentation, and case files.
+ Manage unit resources, including handling funds, ordering supplies, maintaining vehicles and equipment, and submitting budget, equipment, and supply requests.
+ Conduct and support community education and outreach programs and perform other related duties as required.
What are the minimum requirements?
Provo City will honor equivalent combinations of education and experience.
+ High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
+ One (1) year of experience as an Officer at Provo City or a similar facility/environment OR 2 years of experience in the care and handling of animals.
+ A valid, lawful Driver License.
+ Must obtain VACOA Tranquilizer Gun Certificate, UACOA Euthanasia Certificate, and Wildlife Handling Certificate during first year of employment.
What is the selection process?
Applications will be reviewed in the order they are submitted, with the first screening being held on February 17, 2026 . Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications listed above to be eligible for consideration.
If selected for hire, candidate will be required to successfully pass a drug screen and criminal background check. Non-disclosure may result in dismissal. Applicants with unsatisfactory drug screen results will be ineligible for appointment or application to any Provo City position for a minimum period of six (6) months.
