Job Title: Anesthesia Technician Coordinator
Department: Operating Room

Location: Unity Hospital
Hours Per Week: 40hrs

Schedule: 5am-1:30pm


Summary
Provides assistance to the Anesthetist or Anesthesiologist within the scope of the Surgical Services practice setting. Maintains daily functions of Anesthesia Department. Assists with guiding and training of Anesthesia Technician I and Anesthesia Technician IIs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Works under the Clinical Leadership of Department of Anesthesia and administrative management of Surgical Services and follows all hospital policy and procedures.

Responsible to meet all regulatory requirements for Anesthesia Care according to JACHO and NYS Department of Health.

Oversees work of Anesthesia technicians on a daily basis, coordinates staffing and anticipates coverage needs.

Maintains all anesthesia equipment. Trouble shoots failures, and works closely with clinical technology to resolve issues, does ongoing evaluation of equipment.

Prepares equipment for use as directed by Anesthesia Care Provider and hospital policy.

Works with the Director of Surgical Services to develop capital needs, assists with trials and facilitates communication with vendors.

Assists with invasive procedures and monitors patients as directed by Anesthesia Care Providers. Prepares IV, transducers and blood warmer lines.

Is responsible for maintenance and accurate calibration of all anesthesia equipment.

Works with Materials Coordinator regarding inventory, service needs, and supply requests, ordering issues, and establishing par levels.

Understands principles of sterilization and uses appropriate sanitizing and sterilization processes for equipment.

Participates in departmental and hospital inter-disciplinary committee as requested.

Perform Intra-Operative duties as requested by Anesthesia Care Provider, assists with intubations as well as assisting with cricoid pressure.

Responds promptly to turnover pages and resets room appropriately.

Monitors and records daily leak tests of medical gases in each OR suite.

Works closely with OR staff to assure patient safety and establishes consistent standards of anesthesia care.

Ensures all equipment is in its proper location and condition when not in use and oversees orderliness of anesthesia work room.

Reviews supply inventory and usage and reports variances to the Director of Surgical Services.

Assists and prepares for procedures done off site by Anesthesia Care Providers i.e. Special Procedures and ICU.

Acts as liaison and resource for Department of Anesthesia with all other hospital departments.

Minimum Qualifications:

LPN or appropriate healthcare licensure. North American Dragger Anesthesia Machine Preventative Maintenance. 

Telemetry Certified. 

Two years anesthesia experience and/or Advanced Degree in health care in related field.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
