POSITION SUMMARY
The Anesthesia Technician provides support to the anesthesia team by maintaining supplies and equipment and by assisting with patient care as needed, under the supervision of the Lead Anesthesia Tech and the Registered Nurse.
The Technician is responsible for ordering and maintaining non-controlled medication stock and other related surgical supplies according to established departmental standards.
The Technician cleans and maintains anesthesia equipment and supplies and coordinates repairs with the Biomedical Services department as necessary. The Technician prepares and cleans the pre-anesthesia area daily. This position supports the anesthesia team by assisting with patient care related duties as requested.
This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Completion of technician program preferred.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: BLSHCP certification required.
EXPERIENCE: Preferred but not required. Proficiency in Clinical Applications preferred at time of hire; incumbents within position will be trained appropriately and then skill will be required for this position within 30-60 days from date of hire.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Potential for exposure to the hazards of the hospital environment, such as exposure to infectious disease, hazardous waste, blood-borne pathogens, and potential injury.
Position requires considerable standing, reaching and walking. Requires the ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
