 Business Overview: 

The Global Services Group (GSG) is comprised of several interconnected business units which collectively provide customer service on a global scale, playing a central role in helping American Express achieve its vision of being the world’s most respected service brand.  

GSG MIS & Advanced Analytics team is responsible for maintaining Management Information System that enables global operations to understand business performance and conduct strategic analytics leveraging Advance Analytics capabilities to uncover trends and opportunities to improve efficiency and elevate customer experience. 

 Description: 

The Travel Strategic Insights and Analytics team, within the GSG MIS, plays a crucial role in enabling effective decision making and providing reliable and insightful information through rigorously designed, analyzed, and maintained reporting and analytics platform. This team is the primary point of contact for all GTLS information needs and is responsible for Executive Decision Support through advanced analytics and MIS. 

The Business Data Analyst role will be responsible for providing analytical support in the delivery of innovation and transformational initiatives for the MIS & Analytics organization. The key focus of this role is to leverage data to improve the economics and efficiency of the Travel and Lifestyle organization, with higher focus on cross channel opportunities and cardmember engagement. 

 Key Responsibilities: 

Perform rich analytics that support and inform travel and lifestyle servicing priorities and transformation, through advanced analytical techniques.  Maintain and optimize existing reports, with focus on shaping the chat strategy for GTLS. Collaborate closely with GTLS Strategy, Operations and GCCM teams to enhance channel efficiency and optimize servicing, while also support efforts to grow and scale chat.Provide data support and analytical solutions to key stakeholders and TLS leadership using advanced analytics (NLP, Hive, LUMI and customer targeting techniques) Continually assess the data and reporting needs of the organization and translate these into actionable insights with clear recommendations. Strengthen foundation by exploring big data platforms (Lumi, CS etc.) for new tables/missing metrics. Develop new and enhance existing models by leveraging best-in-class modeling techniques and identifying opportunities for new automated & custom analytics solutions. Query and analyze large sets of data to draw conclusions and make recommendations to the business using statistical models and data mining techniques. Create comprehensive presentations in a clear and concise format for various audiences and leadership levels to include opportunities and recommendations.Work closely with Operations leaders and Project Managers to further develop existing ideas, prioritizing and implementing them. 

 Qualifications: 

Graduate/Postgraduate in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Economic, Business Administration or related is required. 3+ years of working experience in Analytics, Data Modeling or Process Improvement. Experience with using Big Data Technology including Hive, Big Query or LUMI. Query performance tuning skills using SQL.Knowledge of big data technology (LUMI-GCP), Tableau, Python and PySpark execution is a mustExperience in using advanced data analytics tools to perform analysis and uncover insights. Industry Experience as Data Analyst with a track record of pulling, manipulating, processing, and developing meaningful insights from large datasets. Strong analytical background and excellent quantitative and analytical skills (Comfortable working with large quantities of data). Ability to create professional presentations to influence stakeholders on business decisions. Ability to identify and translate business information needs into insights. Data presentation & visualization skills. Knowledge of additional platforms: Experience with Microsoft Excel, Access, Power Point, Power Bi and Tableau.
